Summer Camp
Summer Camp was a huge success this year. The new patrols worked very hard on they're "Trail to First Class." They seem to have accomplished quite a bit so far, having been in the Troop only a few months. They are certainly moving along at an admirable speed. Six of the Older Scouts, including Dylan Farris, Shawn McNama, Blaine Carlson, Zach Casberg, Garrett White, and Nick Stringer, participated in a weeklong high adventure program called "Rugged Explorers," better known as Rugged "E." When asked how it was, they responded by simply saying, "it was rugged." More moving and influential words have never been spoken. During this program, they hiked to the top of Silver Peak, one of the tallest mountains on the island, they mountain biked over 50 miles, cooked all their own meals, canoeed more than 10 miles, kayaked more than 5 miles, and participated in a scavenger hunt that took them all over camp and beyond. The winning team in the scavenger hunt was led by Crew Leader Nick Stringer. All six boys earned special limited edition "Rugged E" neckerchiefs, which they wear almost every Monday. The younger scouts canoeed to Parson's Landing, a 2 mile round trip canoe expedition, and slept there one night under the stars. Much of their week was focused on rank advancement.
Thanks for your support and interest,
Nick Stringer, SPL
